Day Two ~ Photo's from Mrs. Cusimano

We witnessed the "Changing of the Guards", which Sean O'Connell tells us hasn't always been guarded. The tomb of the unknown soldiers is what they are guarding. They used to not guard the tomb during daytime hours. Since tourists were getting on top of the tomb, using it to get a better picture of the surrounding attractions. Graffiti was found in places as well. Security was heightened and the routine of guarding the tomb has become an enormous ritual.

Arlington National Cemetary where unknown soldiers are honored with a headstone of their own. They are all straight up and down and weigh 250 pounds each. They are said to symbolize soldiers standing tall.

Jake, Javier & Adrienne trying to stay quiet while visiting JFK, Jr's tombstone. It was tough being quiet for so long, but I do believe we did better than the other schools that were there!
