Overview on the Washington, D.C. Trip.

The trip to Washington was a total success. New friendships were made and old friendships were renewed. Everyone shared in this success by cooperation and flexibility. One thing has become very clear to me after this trip. I always knew the students of Colrain Central School were upstanding citizens, but comparing them to other citizens of same age, they are truly special. The amount of respect and self-control each child posesses is amazing. I personally was proud to be in Washington D.C. with such an outstanding group of people.

I believe Mr. C said it best when we were chatting over dinner when he said, " As long as there are kids like this left in the world, there is hope for the future." I do believe that sums up how I feel about the class of 2008. Seeing our kids enjoy such a monumental trip made all the chaperones on the trip proud.

Special thanks needs to be expressed to Amy Looman who was our fearless leader. She was organized, flexible, and open to any and all suggestions from everyone. Both kids and adults felt safe, even in the most challenging situations (such as the metro) knowing that Amy had our backs and knew we could all work together as a group to get from point A to point B. Thank you
Amy, you succeeded in your leadership role.

Special thanks to Mrs. Cusimano for all she did as well to make the trip a success. From disciplinarian to financial manager... we are especially glad you shared Mr. C with us.

Grandma Shank.... I do believe you are one of the reasons that the kids experienced very low amounts of homesickness. You were gracious, caring and lovey. Thank you for sharing your space with us and making us feel loved.

Chaperones, it was a pleasure working with the kids with all of you. We all took care of each other and kept an eye out for each other at all times. There was an even flow of respect and admiration for each other throughout the trip. I think our class can acheive anything with support like the chaperones showed on this trip. Sharing photographs of the trip along the way has made this blog possible, and proved that as a team Colrain parents can make anything happen.

Ken Bigelow, thank you for nursing us all to health as the week went on. Both children and adults had moments of needing you, and you never waivered in helping us all out. We are grateful to have had you on this trip.

Parents, thank you for preparing your kids so well for success on the trip.

Children, thank you for being so special, respectful, well-behaved, and spirited. All the chaperones have discussed how wonderful it was to chat and get to know each one of you.

We all worked together to get this group picture infront of the Liberty Bell. The room was so incredibly full of folks wanting to take pictures of their own... we worked together and managed to get a great shot! Good job guys!

The game started off with the Kids verses the Chaperones. These pictures are various action shots of the game, tagging each other, trying to get team members out of jail, trying to send opponents to jail... a fantastic time was had by all. The result was a huge WIN by the CHAPERONES!! Woot Woot! Good job everyone... kids, better luck NEXT TIME! :-)~
